Hi, I’m ROSALVA HERNANDEZ.
Welcome, I am honored for the opportunity to connect with you! I am an independent consultant seeking to partner with others in co creating a generative vision of leadership, human centered design, collaborative facilitation and systems change firmly grounded in equity. These are the passions and experiences I engage in but who I am can best be shared using the the “I am from” poem storytelling activity.” This is an activity which I often apply in building community and deepening connection. There are many ways to write your poem, and it is always unfinished since we are always growing our stories.
“I am from the mountains and ancestral power
I am from deep poverty and a family of pulling together to hold up the world
I am from names that fill a room and roll off tongues like a song. My mother
María Socorro del Perfecto Castillo Gallegos Hernandez.
My feet are wide and large, sandals fit them best when kids made fun of me I said what Ama told me, my ancestors climbed mountains
I am from Mexico Texas Minnesota
Soy Chicana y Mexicana and borders covered our indigenous roots but Ama remembers and tells the stories of las culturas indígenas
I’m from the wisdom of big hearts and bigger feelings. Where tears flow like rivers smashing against rocks and reshaping landscapes I am from dichos y chistes floating across laughter on the backs of powerful women who hold up the sky.
I am from “she’s not enough, doesn’t speak loud or often enough.” But I’m also from “she’s too much and why is she repeating herself?”
I am from a farewell filled with spicy food, laughter, games, and stories. A kind word and a promise to continue”
